Ranch Style Retreat

an iconic and rare piece of New Zealand design

Overlooking a serene gully this rural family home is an iconic and rare piece of New Zealand design, originally designed in the 1970s, by one of the Group Architect contemporaries. Fast forward to today the retreat has been respectfully renovated with many of the original elements restored.

Simple use of natural materials, mid-century design elements and the subtle use of colour create a freshness to the renovated spaces throughout while blending the old with new. The new entertaining wing includes an extension out to a pool and spa overlooking the gully, vaulted ceilings and built in furniture accompanied with modern design.

This projects success is attributed to the collaboration with the Clients and Architect Mercer & Mercer resulting in a sympathetically executed design project.
